Extremely Rare Bevel Top Trunk
This is the earliest bevel top trunk we have ever seen. It has several patent dates on it that peg it around 1854-57. However, we feel it was made a little after that date, perhaps the early 1860s. Nevertheless, it is an early one and incredible to boot.
Look at all of the extra adornment this trunk has. The solid brass lock and latch, the brass clad straps, the bevel top, and just the right number of copper and brass buttons. This trunk makes a very powerful statement and would fit in many rooms of a house.
This great trunk is on the larger side and will hold quite a few quilts or winter woolens. This is a rare opportunity to purchase a unique trunk that will make a fine heirloom.
